A Star Is Born

Updated: Nov 1, 2018

I haven’t been emotionally taken by a film like this in quite some time. As a musician there’s obviously a lot of moments, feelings, and trials I can connect with on a truly personal level. Even though my experience is minuscule at best in comparison to our two leads.

I haven’t been emotionally taken by a film like this in quite some time.

This is a story however that deserves to be retold as it’s been several times before. I’m happy to see Bradley Cooper take it in such a fresh yet familiar direction at the same time. Not to mention touching on such serious subjects and issues that every human faces regardless of status. His performance was fantastic and he genuinely lost himself in that character.

Not once did I just see the actor, I saw the person.

Last but certainly not least we have Lady Gaga’s standout performance. I’ve never been the biggest fan of hers musically. But there is no denying her talent and ability whether on stage or in front of the camera.

"I believed her in this role because I believe this was a story she has lived personally. That honesty shined through with every moment she was on screen."

I am confident that this film will receive every bit of acclaim that it deserves come awards season. My only hope is that at the end of it all people truly understand the meaning behind this film and learn to feel something from it. After all isn’t that why we go to the movies?
