I’m not one to mince words or sugar coat how I feel, especially when it comes to movies. So I have to be honest when I say that I was very much let down by this film. Don’t get me wrong, visually it was beautiful and it was definitely moving at times. But that was not enough to make up for what it lacked. Which in my opinion was focus on the overall story as well as context.
There just seemed to be a lot missing from the narrative and at times certain things felt glossed over. And that is coming from someone who has never read the book. So I can only imagine how others might feel.
Overall this wasn’t a bad film, however the more it sits with me the more I find things to complain about. So I’ll stop here and say don’t just take my word for it, see it and decide for yourselves.
