Overall not Impressed...Just Stream It!
Just got out of The Revenant. And while I tried to go in with lowered expectations, due to the mixed reviews I've seen. Which admittedly is kinda hard to do with a Leo film, specifically with Oscar buzz. I still came out feeling underwhelmed by the film overall.
Don't get me wrong it is a good movie, and I'm glad I saw it one the big screen as it was meant to be seen. But something throughout the film left me wanting more. Now obviously this is not to meant be a big blockbuster, action packed kind of endeavor. This is a survival/revenge story played out in a real and cold environment. Leo does a great job portraying the hardship and pain that this man went through to see things through to the end.

But if I'm truly honest with myself I will be a little disappointed if this film brings him his first Oscar. I think there have been many missed opportunities in the past where he more than deserved it. And I'm sure there will be many more in the future.
So I guess we'll just have to see how things play out.
